At Badminton England, we are thrilled to announce the expansion of the new-look National Badminton League – sponsored by Franklyn Wealth Management.

As the second pilot season for the return of the National Badminton League (NBL) reaches its climax, we know there is appetite for more!

So we are reinventing the National Badminton League for the 2025-26, 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons. And Badminton England is now inviting applications from teams across the country to join this exciting and growing competition.

With a vision to become the pinnacle of domestic club badminton, the NBL will provide a competitive and aspirational platform for the best talent in the country.

A new set of minimum requirements will be introduced in a variety of different ways to drive the progress of the league and, over the course of the next three seasons, the league is expected to grow and evolve.

We are initially expecting to commence the 2025-26 season with at least eight teams competing for the National Badminton League title and now is the time to express your interest in entering a team and vie for the new-look NBL title.

“We are excited to develop the National Badminton League into a flagship competition that showcases the top badminton talent in the country. Our goal is to create an inspiring, competitive environment that not only highlights the best of the sport today but also inspires the next generation of players.”

George Wood, Sport Director

Badminton England is committed to ensuring the league is accessible to all groups and communities involved in badminton, striving to create opportunities for teams from all backgrounds.

Teams from all areas of the country are encouraged to apply – and the league will continue to prioritise accessibility for all communities that play badminton, fostering growth and inclusivity in the sport.

Interested teams should apply using the application form before Friday 9th May.
