Gregory Mairs and Jenny Moore claimed mixed doubles glory after a fantastic week of action for the English pair at the AIF FZ Forza Ireland Open.
The duo were seeded sixth in Dublin, and crowned their week with a 21-13 21-16 win against Andreas Sondegaard and Iben Bergstein in Saturday’s final.
Mairs and Moore began their campaign in impressive style with a straight games victory over qualifiers Marcus Rindshoj and Natasja Anthonisen, before beating fellow English pair Jonty Russ and Sian Kelly to reach the last eight.
There, they picked up their most impressive win of the tournament, battling past second seeds Mikkel Mikkelsen and Rikke Soby 21-10 11-21 21-15 to seal a semi-final spot.
And in the last four encounter Mairs and Moore prevailed in a thrilling contest, beating Mathias Thyrri and Amalie Magelund 13-21 21-19 23-21 to reach the final, where they ultimately prevailed.
There was plenty of English representation across all events, including alongside Mairs and Moore in the mixed doubles.
Brandon Yap and Annie Lado reached the second round in Dublin, falling to Mikkelsen and Soby at that stage, while Steven Stallwood and Hope Warner also progressed to that stage.
Stallwood and Warner defeated Kristian Kraemer and Amalie Cecilie Kudsk, before a second-round loss to seventh seeds Jesper Toft and Clara Graversen.
Elsewhere, Oliver Butler and Chloe Dennis impressed to come through qualifying, before a first-round defeat to Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch.
Alex Green and Estelle van Leeuwen were beaten by Emil Lauritzen and Signe Schulz in their opener, while fourth seeds Callum Hemming and Jess Pugh saw their campaign come to a close with an opening round loss to Jan Colin Voelker and Stine Kuespert.
In the women’s singles Abigail Holden was among those in action, being beaten in her first round contest against Natsuki Nidaira.
Meanwhile, both Harry Huang and Johnnie Torjussen battled through qualifying to reach the main draw of the men’s singles.
Huang was beaten in the opening round of the main draw by Magnus Johannesen, while Torjussen fell in a tight three-game battle to Seng Zoe Yeoh.
In the women’s doubles there was an all-English second round between Van Leeuwen and Warner, and Lado and Abbygael Harris.
Van Leeuwen and Warner had beaten Serena Au Yeong and Katharina Hochmeir in the opening round, while Harris and Lado received a first-round bye.
And it was Van Leeuwen and Warner who prevailed 20-22 21-10 21-14 to reach the quarter-final, where their run was ended by fourth seeds Kuespert and Emma Moszczynski.
There was also plenty of men’s doubles action, led by Ben Lane and Sean Vendy.
Lane and Vendy were second seeds in the draw, though saw their campaign ended in a narrow opening-round loss to Shuntaro Mezaki and Haruya Nishida.
However there was an impressive opening round victory for Green and Yap, who beat Adam McAllister and David Walsh before falling to Yu Chieh Lin and Li Wei Su.
Butler and Ethan Hoskin also impressed to come through qualifying, with their campaign closing with a first-round defeat by Rasmus Kjaer and Frederik Sogaard.
Zack Bobrowski and Stallwood were beaten in their first match by Bjarne Geiss and Jan Colin Voelker, while eighth seeds Rory Easton and Zach Russ lost to Masato Takano and Katsuki Tamate.
