A Sport that Cares
Developed for our fantastic badminton community, we are introducing minimum standards that will provide a benchmark for good practice and guidance to best support our affiliated clubs and groups to deliver amazing experiences for all.
Why have we introduced minimum standards?
We want to ensure that together we are creating the best, most enjoyable, inclusive, and safest environments for all those playing, working and volunteering in our sport.
Having these standards in place will:
- Implement strong governance
- Develop a positive culture
- Support volunteers in their roles
- Minimise issues and conflicts
- Enhance membership engagement
What do we need to do?
This is a phased approach focusing on people in phase 1 as we know great people create great experiences. In supporting our community, we have worked to reduce barriers by removing workshop costs and making training more accessible, delivering online workshops on different days and at different times.
In this phase we are asking all affiliated environments to:
- Appoint a Club Welfare Officer
- This person should be named at affiliation from September 2025
- This person will be required to attend a free Badminton England Club Welfare Officer workshop and have an active Badminton England DBS (for clubs with any U18s)
- Scroll to the bottom of the page for workshop booking links (dates will continue to be added) and to request a DBS link.
- Ensure all their active coaches are registered with Badminton England as Coach Members
- All roles have the required Training & Education as highlighted in the Badminton England Club Training matrix.
