Badminton England ran the latest Young Leader Academy session last weekend giving those involved the chance to further develop their leadership attributes within a sporting setting.

Twenty-two Badminton Influencers attended at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes, all aged between 14-16.

The sessions aimed to provide them with transferable skills they can take back into their club environment and support delivery within their own clubs.

Those who have taken part in the past have gone onto use what they learnt in volunteering, coaching and to help enhance their career prospects, utilising new found confidence and social skills.

Oliver Swales, one of the influencers, said: “I have loved this experience and being around people who love badminton and love leading.

“I have learnt loads of new skills, in particular how to both run and organise a tournament.

“Hopefully I can take this back to my club.”
