James Song enjoyed a weekend to remember at the Under-15 English National Championships, held with the support of the National Series equipment partner YONEX, which saw the stars of the future take to the court in Coventry.

The action began early on Saturday morning and concluded on Sunday with the mixed doubles final, which saw Song and Sofie Chong crowned champions at the U15 English Nationals Championships 2022, held with the support of the National Series equipment partner Yonex, UK.

The first of Sunday’s finals saw Song live up to his tag as top seed in the boys’ singles, as he picked up the first of three medals by beating Jaxon Clarke 21-13 21-7 having defeated Anish Nair in the last four.

Song’s success continued in the boys’ doubles final as he partnered with Lawrence Chen to defeat Clarke and Aarav Sujith, who had played against each other in the other boys’ singles semi-final, 21-19 21-18.

The girls’ singles final went down to the wire and saw Prarthana Reddy triumph 23-21 21-17 against Sia Pandit in a high-quality thriller. Maria Mitchell and Aahna Bhatia were the beaten semi-finalists.

Pandit and Mili Patel then teamed up for the girls’ doubles final and despite an impressive display, they were pipped to gold by Anna Kalathil George and Rajvi Parab, who triumphed 21-15 21-17.

There was still time for one last success for Song, as he and Chong overcame Chen and Eeva Lunn 21-10 21-10 to take the mixed doubles crown.
