All England shirts

all england shirtsChina went into the 100th All England as holders of all five titles, and the big question was – how many titles could they retain?  In fact they claimed the mixed doubles and ladies’ doubles, Denmark taking the ladies’ singles and mixed doubles, and Malaysia the men’s singles.

During the tournament members of the Chinese party at Birmingham including the team Manager visited the National Badminton Museum in Milton Keynes and promised to donate any shirts worn by Chinese winners to the museum.

We were delighted when four shirts signed by the winners arrived and these are now on display in a cabinet relating to the 100th All England played in Birmingham in 2010.

In the ladies’ doubles final Jing Du and Yang Yu of China beat Shu Cheng and Yuniei Zhao also from China. We have displayed the shirts so that the back of one shows the name Yu Y, China and the other worn by J Du shows the front with sponsors and other information.

The other Chinese winners were in the mixed doubles Nan Zhang and Yuniei Zhao beating an Indonesian pair – again we are showing the back of the smaller shirt with Zhao YL’s name on view while Yuniei Zhao's is displayed to show the front with sponsors and other information.
