Alyssa Lim focuses

Coles and Lim through to Polish semi-finals

England's Chris Coles and Alyssa Lim have battled their way through to this afternoon's mixed doubles semi-finals at the Polish Open in Warsaw.

But they had to overcome Sergey Lunev and Evgenia Dimova in their opening contest to get there.

Coles and Lim, who had a first-round bye, faced the Russians in the second round and came through 21-19 10-21 21-18 despite having a 16-9 third-game lead wiped out as their opponents recovered to 16-16 and then levelled again at 18-18.

In the quarter-finals Coles and Lim knocked out another Russian pair, Sergey Shumilkin and Irina Khlebko, 21-14 21-13 and now face Polish fourth seeds Wojciech Szkudlarczyk and Agnieszka Wojtkowska for a place in the final.

Coles and Matthew Nottingham were also hoping to make their mark in the men's doubles, especially as Nottingham and Alex Langley went down in their opening mixed doubles.

But after a first-round bye second seeds Coles and Nottingham fell to Malaysians Au Kok Leong and Chow Pak Chuu 21-14 16-21 21-15.

Lim bids for a second semi-final place later today when she and Langley take on Russian second seeds Irina Khlebko and Ksenia Polikarpova following a
first-round walkover.
