Membership FAQs

With our updated return to play roadmap now released we can all start to look ahead to getting back on court and playing the sport we love again. To help support all of our coaches, clubs and players to get back on court this summer we are currently reviewing membership for 2020/21 and beyond. Should you wish to feedback, discuss or have any questions in relation to this please contact membership@badmintonengland.co.uk. We will let you know the outcome of this review shortly.

Thank You!

In the meantime, we wanted to say thank you for the contribution your membership has had to our sport. Membership income contributes 22% to Badminton England’s income every year and the funds invested by more than 1,500, 40,000 members and over 1,500 coaches play a vital role in:

  • Growing the number of people playing at grassroots level
  • Encouraging more kids to play badminton in schools and train more teachers
  • The governance of the sport of badminton in this country, including protecting young people
  • Growing the profile of badminton including securing more TV and media coverage
  • Staging more than 250 tournaments across the country every year for more than 4,000 players
  • Developing more coaches and talented young players
  • Making you proud by winning medals and representing England on the world stage
  • Leading the Olympic and Paralympic programme on behalf of the Home Nations

None of this would be possible without your support. Thank you.

Stronger Together

We have worked tirelessly over the last 12 months to support the survival of our sport and a safe return to play when restrictions have allowed. This includes:

  • Worked with Government to secure the approval for our Return to Play guidance that will help people at all levels get back playing.
  • Launched a Hardship fund of £100,000 to provide some much need financial support to get back on court
  • Developed a Return to Play Hub, providing free tools and resources to help clubs, coaches, players and volunteers get back on court
  • Delivered club and coach webinars to support a safe return to play
  • Launched a troubleshooting service that has supported over 600 return to play queries
  • Reached out to every affiliated club and registered coach during lockdown to offer support
  • Ran a Full Time Coaches Support Programme to help those coaches most financially impacted by the pandemic
  • Added over 4000 venues to our Activity Finder to help clubs find alternative venues to play
  • Developed new partnerships with school lettings companies to open access to more school facilities and get the best price for affiliated clubs and registered coaches
  • Successfully lobbied government to get indoor sports facilities open and to allow full court singles and doubles to be played
  • Initiated several high-profile campaigns, including representation to the Prime Minister, seeking Government intervention to open more courts
  • Launched a Hardship fund of £100,000 to provide some much need financial support to get back on court

We will continue to prioritise this work and do all we can to support the badminton community that does so much for so many.
