Freya Redfearn enjoyed a fine run at the Polish International 2024 as she reached the semi-finals of the women’s singles.
The 23-year-old battled through three rounds to make it to the last four, before losing to Milena Schnider of Switzerland in three sets, 21-19 21-23 21-12 to miss out on a place in the final.
To reach the semi-finals, Redfearn beat another Swiss shuttler, Dounia Pelupessy in the first round, before ousting Elin Ryberg of Sweden and then Yasmine Hamza from Italy in the second round and quarter-finals respectively.
It is Redfearn’s third semi-final run of the year, which she kicked off by getting to the last four at the RSL Iceland International in January before again losing out to Schnider.
Elsewhere, in the men’s singles, Nadeem Dalvi reached the quarter-finals before losing out to Lakshay Sharma 21-12 21-13.
Dalvi beat Finland’s Rasmus Andersson in the first round and then edged out home favourite Lukasz Cimosz before coming up short against Sharma.
Rohan Midha was also competing in the men’s singles, but was beaten in the first round by Wolfgang Gnedt in straight sets.
Last but not least, a trio of English pairs were in action in the men’s doubles with all suffering the same fate.
Robin Harper and Harry Wakefield beat home pair Jan Franczak and Dawid Perkowski in the first round, only to lose in the second. Koon Fung Kelvin Ho and Zach Russ also won their opening match before falling in the next round to eventual finalists Eng Keat Wesley Koh and Junsuke Kubo of Singapore.
The third pair in action was Oliver Butler and Sam Jones, who beat Danish pair Benjamin Illum Klindt and Mike Vestergaard before falling to another partnership from Denmark as their run was ended by Kristoffer Kolding and Tobias Roenboeg.
