Role summary:

As People Experience Officer, you will work as part of our team and deliver a proactive and flexible HR service by providing a relevant and appropriate HR & L&D support to our BE people.

You will be the first point of contact for general HR queries and provide initial advice to managers and staff. You’ll manage payroll and maintain the HR database, processing changes and issuing contractual paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. You will also work with the Head of People to deliver HR & Learning & Development projects. Some of the things we have planned are culture, engagement, wellbeing, recruitment and onboarding through to the whole employee lifecycle.

This is a busy and exciting position for an organised individual with existing skills and relevant experience who is looking to widen their experience in human resources.

Key responsibilities, main tasks and activities:

  • Provide professional HR Support to ensure all elements of the employee lifecycle are undertaken to a high standard within a timely manner
  • Coach, support and motivate employees to develop and enhance individual and team performance and optimise service delivery
  • Provide professional HR support and accurate and appropriate advice on employee relations matters including; absence management, grievance and disciplinary to minimise risk of litigation in accordance with current legislation
  • Support delivery and implementation of key people strategy initiatives
  • Plan and execute recruitment campaigns appropriate to business area
  • Assist in the implementation of policies and procedures to meet business requirements
  • Provide accurate data and produce management information relating to our people, in order to inform HR projects and support line managers, identifying trends and analysing statistics.

The People Experience Officer role involves working on a range of activities. These cover areas such as:

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Recruitment

  • Co-ordination/organisation of recruitment at all levels, including headhunting
  • Liaising with Recruiters
  • Actively searching for suitable candidates using our recruitment platforms
  • Managing & keep up to date the recruitment log
  • Feedback to hiring managers
  • Developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates
  • Coordinating inductions for all new starters
  • Managing the on-boarding process for new starters

Policies

  • Review and update company policies and procedures as appropriate to promote best practice

Appraisals

  • Prep for the annual appraisals
  • Participate and assist managers in appraisal meetings
  • Co-ordinate the pass/fail/extension of probations

Employee Relations

  • Supporting and delivering Employee Wellbeing Initiatives
  • Supporting and delivering key people strategies
  • Supporting managers with complex cases, such as disciplinary grievances, absence management and performance issues
  • Supporting the organisation through restructures
  • Ensuring engagement is maintained and managers act in a way that involves their staff

Payroll

  • Coordinate payroll and maintain employee records

HR Management Systems

  • Support the implementation of a new HRIS and payroll system
  • Manage the backend of our HRIS and set access rights, always ensuring confidentiality
  • Produce reports to display hr-related stats, insights, and metrics with the primary purpose of improving workforce performance, recruiting procedures and other relevant HR processes

General

  • Being a point of call for the team for any concerns/discrepancies in the absence of management to Interpret and advise on employment law

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • You will have been involved in payroll input and HR coordination
  • Proactive approach with a level of confidence that offers assurance to all stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritise with a flexible attitude and approach across multiple HR tasks
  • An understanding of compliance with human resources guidelines, policies and procedures, as well as employment law, rules and regulations
  • Used to working collaboratively to develop innovative, timely and cost-effective best practice for HR Initiatives
  • You will have initiative, be able to think on your feet and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Comfortable with technology – standard office software and apps such as SharePoint/Teams
  • Experience of working with iTrent HRIS would be an advantage although not essential
