Volunteer Opportunities
Workforce:
We have numerous roles available for our upcoming Junior International Tournament. We have left it under one Workforce opportunity to allow for fluid transition of roles to enable all of the volunteers to gain a true experience of working at a Badminton England event:
Team Liaison/Welcome:
- Be the main point of contact for Teams and Athletes during their stay with us in Birmingham.
- Based at the Welcome desk greeting the arrival of players and spectators to the venue.
- Great verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ideal for those who commit to the whole event.
Access Control:
- Directing volunteers, players, officials and spectators to appropriate areas.
- A key point of contact for information and willing to get involved and put smiles on people’s faces.
Practice & Field of Play (FOP):
- This fluid role will encompass managing the practice courts, the FOP entry and the FOP itself. Supporting with set-ups, maintenance and changeovers and breakdowns in those areas.
- Further will be critical in the timings of the event and smooth running of player entry and exit of the court, to support the competition staying to time.
- Not one of you will have to take on all three zones with it split amongst your team.
Match Control:
- You will be in charge of the tournament software system and managing the scoring systems, ensuring everything is working as intended.
- Liaise with the Umpires to ensure the correct officials are on the correct court.
- To announce players onto the correct courts.
Streaming:
- Oversee the online stream for a given court; inputting point by point scores to live stream feed, updating names on livestream between matches, maintaining holding slides for transition between matches.
- A good level of IT proficiency is required to fulfil this role.
