It was another thrilling weekend at the Senior County Championships.
In the Premiership, Middlesex wasted no time in getting out of the blocks, continuing from last season’s final weekend momentum with three wins from three.
They enjoyed a 6-5, 8-3 and 9-2 series of victories against Sussex, Hampshire and Leicestershire respectively which put them at the top of the pile.
Leinster endured a tough start with three losses. A 7-4 reverse against Avon, followed by a 9-2 loss to Buckinghamshire and a narrow 6-5 loss to Sussex rounded off a tough start for the Irish team.
Meanwhile, last year’s runners-up Hertfordshire also recorded three losses. Going down 8-3 to a rejuvenated Buckinghamshire side, 6-5 to newly-promoted Cheshire and another tight 6-5 loss to Surrey.
Cheshire recorded the better weekend of the newly-promoted teams, with three wins in total. They recorded two narrow 6-5 wins against Leicestershire and Hertfordshire followed by a solid 7-4 win against fellow promoted Hampshire to put them in fifth place.
Avon and Surrey also secured perfect weekends with Sussex the only other team to record a win in the Premiership this weekend.
