European Games gold medallists Lauren Smith and Marcus Ellis head to Basel next month looking to build on their winning momentum at the TOTAL BWF World Championships.
The world number nine pair will join Chris and Gabby Adcock in the mixed doubles draw at the showpiece event from 19-25 August in Switzerland.
As 2017 World bronze medallists, the Adcocks will be looking to build on their quarter-finals placing of last year’s edition of the Championships.
The men’s doubles will see Sean Vendy make his World Championships debut alongside Ben Lane. They will be joined by Olympic bronze medallists Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge who will be determined to better their result from last year when they lost to India’s Rankireddy and Shetty in the first round.
In the men’s singles, Rajiv Ouseph will represent England alongside Toby Penty, with both hoping to improve on early round exits in 2018.
Chloe Birch will be England’s sole representative in the women’s singles and on the back of winning European silver, the 23-year-old will be full of belief that she can put in some strong performances this year.
Just like in Minsk for the recent European Games - Birch will team up with Smith in the women’s doubles – an event England did not contest at the 2018 World Championships.
The full England squad is:
Marcus Ellis / Chris Langridge
Ben Lane / Sean Vendy
Chloe Birch / Lauren Smith
Chris Adcock / Gabby Adcock
