Chris and Gabby Adcock head the seedings in the Mixed Doubles Format for the Super 500 Bangkok event.
This rewards them with an opening tie against qualifiers Ramadiansyah and Bandaso from Indonesia. Ellis and Smith also face Indonesian qualifiers in the shape of Fadhilah and Bernadet. Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith are seeded fourth and in the bottom half of the draw, meaning they could only meet the Adcocks in the final were they to both get that far.
In a bizarre quirk of the draw Lane and Pugh also face Indonesian opposition, though Saputra and Islami did not have to qualify. Mairs and Moore face Japanese qualifiers Kaneko and Matsumoto.
Jenny Moore will also participate in the Women’s Doubles alongside Chloe Birch, their first-round opponents are the Hong Kong pairing of Ng and Yuen. Jess Pugh and Lauren Smith have been drawn against Dong and Feng from China.
In the Men’s Doubles Ben Lane and Sean Vendy face the sixth seeded Taipei pair, whilst Peter Briggs and Tom Wolfenden also face a seeded Taipei pair, in the shape of the 2nd seeds.
In the singles, Raj Ouseph faces Hu Yun of Hong Kong in today’s first round, both are unseeded. Toby Penty (PFQ) faces a qualifier from Thailand-Thammasin.
England’s sole representative in the Women’s singles is Chloe Birch (PFQ) who will play Indonesia’s Tunjung in the first round on Wednesday.
The first round matches are spread over Tuesday and Wednesday, thereafter a further round will be played on each day until the finals on Sunday.
