2 Men's Doubles pairs through to Round 2 in Denmark

Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge came through a tough tussle with Di Zi Jian/Wang Chang of China 21-13 13-21 21-15. These two pairs had never played each other before.

The next round will see the English MD pair play the third seeds Li Jun Hui and Liu Yu Chen of China. Ellis/Langridge have the upper hand from previous meetings by 2-0.

Ben Lane and Sean Vendy powered past Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi of Japan 21-14 21-17. Their reward is a second round meeting with the formidable Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.

The Indonesian first seeds have not been quite as formidable as their usual selves of late though, their China Open win at the end of September was their first tournament title since July.

This is Lane and Vendy's first ever meeting with the Worlds' best Men's Doubles pair.

The sixth seeds Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti of Indonesia beat Ben Lane and Jessica Pugh 21-12 21-19. The two pairs had never met previously.

Wednesday sees Lauren Smith & Chloe Birch (WD) and our two best Mixed Doubles pairs (the Adcocks and Ellis/Smith) get their tournament underway, all playing unseeded Asian pairs.
