European Badminton 2016: England secure semi-final berth


England men have secured their place in the semi-finals of the European Team Championships after a convincing win over Poland this morning.

England, the second seeds, completed a comfortable 3-0 win over the Poles in Kazan, Russia.

Rajiv Ouseph, the England number one, led the way with a 27-minute win over world number 67 Adrian Dziolko 21-6, 21-11.

Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge were made to work against Adam Cwalina   
and Przemyslaw Wacha before coming through 21-15, 21-16.

Third on court, Toby Penty then overcame Michal Rogalski 21-17, 21-17 to secure an unassailable 3-0 lead for England.

England have lost only one rubber so far in the Championships after they topped their group with three victories. They have reached two finals in the five previous editions of the biennial event.

Earlier, favourites Denmark beat hosts Russia 3-1.

England's semi-final opponents will be known later on Friday.
