England’s hopes were ended in the first round at the Estonian International on Friday.
Ahead of a busy week on the international scene next week, Sam Parsons and Rhys Walker travelled to Tallinn for their men’s singles assault.
But national champion Parsons lost out in a tight three-game battle against Luis Ramon Garrido, the higher-ranked Mexican who prevailed 20-22, 21-18, 19-21.
Parsons, pictured, held leads throughout the decider – he was 15-12 up in the latter stages – but couldn’t quite hold on after 71 minutes of action.
Walker, meanwhile, faced top seed Raul Must, of Finland, and exited 21-13, 21-11.
Walker will now travel to the Swedish Masters where he will be looking for a first round berth in the men’s singles. He is seeded ninth in qualifying.
Parsons is next scheduled to be in action at the Iceland International in Reykjavik at the end of the month.
