English pair Chris and Gabby Adcock aim to use their brilliant World Superseries Finals success as a springboard for more titles in 2016.
The married couple’s mixed doubles victory on Sunday over high-flying South Korean pair, Ko Sung Hyun and Kim Ha Na, was their second Superseries win and the Adcocks’ run left them contemplating where their win in the tour's flagship event stood in their career to date, having won the Commonwealth title last summer.
Chris said: “It very hard to say! Glasgow meant a lot, however I think in terms of badminton this was a whole different level. We couldn't be happier.”
Having prepared for two weeks in the lead-up to the season-ending Finals in Dubai, they lost only one match in the emirate before dominating the final on Sunday.
“I think everything worked for us, from the coaching to the preparation and then on court," added Chris. "The combination of everything earned us our greatest win as a pair.”
The Adcocks, who currently sit in sixth place in the Race to Rio qualification standings, admitted that their solid form throughout 2015 held them in good stead as they searched for an elusive title win.
“We have had a very consistent year, which we are very proud of, but finally getting a win in the biggest event of the year is truly amazing,” added Gabby.
“And we hope to use this win to springboard to more titles.”
The first Metlife World Superseries event of the 2016 season will see the Adcocks compete in their home event, the YONEX All England Championships in Birmingham, in March, at the Barclaycard Arena.
