Badminton is unaffected by the change in Govt guidance

Badminton England today announced that Pete Fitzboydon will become Interim Chief Executive, following the departure of Adrian Christy, whilst the search for a permanent Chief Executive gets under way. Pete will take up the role at the start of next week.

Pete is currently a non-Executive Board member of Badminton England having joined in 2019 and brings with him a substantial track record of leadership roles in the sport industry, including London Sport and Parkwood Leisure. Most recently Pete has completed a series of interim and consulting assignments, including Interim CEO of Cycling UK and thinkBeyond, a global sports consulting company.

Fitzboydon said: “I look forward to supporting Badminton England over the coming months while the search for a permanent Chief Executive is carried out. My last two years sitting on the Board should allow me to ‘hit the road running’ with a strong grasp of the immediate priorities, not least recovering from Covid-19, but also completing our review of the elite performance system and concluding long-term funding arrangements with Sport England. I am confident that we can emerge from this interim period in an even stronger place ahead of a permanent CEO appointment.”

Mike Robinson, Chairman of the Board of Badminton England, said: “I am delighted that Pete is able to take up the post of Interim Chief Executive, as his knowledge of Badminton England will be invaluable to us. We have recently started work to look at the type of organisation we want to be, together with the strategy required to get us there and Pete’s appointment will enable us to keep the momentum going.

“Our search for a permanent Chief Executive will commence straight away and further details will be posted on our website.”
