Today we can confirm that after 15 years of dedicated coaching to Badminton England, Graham Hurrell has decided to move on from the national centre to pursue new opportunities.

After retiring from a professional playing career in 2003, achieving a career high ranking of 9 in the world and representing England on 7 occasions, Graham began his coaching journey with Badminton England in 2007. Since then, he has had many roles including junior age group coach, national pathway coach and national senior coach.

Some career highlights include coaching Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier in the 2011 London World Championship final, and being a part of the coaching team at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, achieving a medal haul of team bronze, 2 individual golds, 2 silvers and a bronze. Coaching Chris and Gabby Adcock to the Super Series Finals Gold medal in 2015 and World bronze medal in Glasgow 2017 are some of Graham’s best memories. He also enjoyed leading English junior badminton at the World Junior Championships on many occasions.

About his departure, Graham has said:

“I look back on my 15 years as a coach at Badminton England with many fond memories and experiences. I feel very lucky to have worked alongside such an exceptional group of both coaches and athletes that have been truly dedicated to achieve the highest level in our sport. I would like to thank Badminton England and wish them the best of luck in the future.”
