GB’s badminton stars Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge were greeted to a heroes’ welcome at Heathrow airport today.

National media, Badminton England staff, friends, family and fans packed out the arrivals hall to welcome back the Olympic bronze medalists.

The pair were on the special British Airways chartered flight with the rest of the history-making Team GB athletes.

Ellis said: “It is starting to feel real now. We really struggled to accept what we’d done when we were out there just because it was so unexpected.

“It‘s nice to be home and seeing everyone who sent us the amazing messages.

“I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone. Some of the stuff people have been saying and how emotional they’ve been getting, crying at the TV – they’ve been more emotional than us!

“It’s been an amazing three weeks.

“It’s one of the only times when something like the Olympics brings everyone together.

“I think it’s really special. I’m sad it’s over but I’m also really happy to be back to start sharing my memories.”
