
A busy February on the domestic circuit saw plenty of medals on offer throughout.
From the National Championships to the Junior Gold Circuit across Gloucestershire, Derby and Wiltshire, there was no shortage of entertaining action.
Here is a round-up of what February had to offer.
2025 National Badminton Championships
Five sets of national champions were crowned after an action-packed weekend at the 2025 English National Badminton Championships.
Harry Huang retained his title in the open singles event with a 21-16 21-9 victory over Nadeem Dalvi in the final while Freya Patel-Redfearn battled past Leona Lee to claim the women’s singles title.
After splitting the first two games of the final, Patel-Redfearn dug in deep to clinch the decider 23-21 while the open doubles saw Zach Russ and Barney Chua Yue Chern claim their maiden title.
The women’s doubles ended with Abbygael Harris and Lizzie Tolman crowned winners while the mixed doubles saw Greg and Jenny Mairs take home the title after defeating Ethan and Estelle van Leeuwen in the final.

U15 Gold Gloucestershire
The West Country saw Nikhil Pulikkottil make it a hat-trick of gold medals in the Open Singles*, Mixed Doubles and Open Doubles categories.
Pulikkottil picked up his first medal of the day after battling past Aaron Cherian 21-15 21-16 in the Open Singles* before repeating the feat in the Mixed Doubles with victory alongside Mutiara Mandala over the pair of Maciej Skowronski and Vedanshi Jain.
Pulikkottil then added his third gold after emerging victorious in the Open Doubles alongside Phil Daniel, overcoming Etienne Fan and Eden Gough 21-18 21-17.
Meanwhile, Huen Hillary Au Yeung emerged victorious in the girls’ singles with a 21-12 21-9 win over Nidhi Shukla and Arjun Bhattiprolu took home the Open Singles title with victory over Sherman Sheung Laam Tai, overturning a 13-21 defeat in the first game to win the next two 21-16 21-18.
Jain and Mudra Mayekar rounded off proceedings with a 21-12 21-12 win over Michelle Chen and Mandala in the Girls’ Doubles final.
U19 Gold Derby
In Derby, Mebel Mano Kurian claimed Open Singles title with a 21-10 21-14 defeat of David Ng while Rajvi Parab edged out Tin Wing Raye Wan 17-21 21-14 21-14 for the Women’s Singles crown.
James Song and Lucy Brierley enjoyed success in the Mixed Doubles final against Jason Clarke and Lucy Dodd, with Edward Davey and Sonish Hathi taking home the Open Doubles title after dispatching Yixiang Hou and Jasper Wong 21-7 21-14.
The final action of the day saw Mia Fox and Tin Wing Raye Wan run out winners in the Women’s Doubles final after a hard-fought 21-18 20-22 22-20 victory over Lucy Dodd and Lucy Brierley.
U13 Gold Wiltshire
In Tidworth, Jamie Choong and Michelle Chen claim the first gold medal of the day with a 21-15 21-15 win over Vihaan Nair and Abby Zyi En Gan in the Mixed Doubles final.
Chen then added to her medal tally with a 21-15 21-17 defeat of Jennifer Ha in the Girls’ Singles final before teaming up with Nidhi Shukla to down Abby Zyi En Gan and Jennifer Ha 21-16 20-22 21-11 for the Girls’ Doubles crown.
Amitesh Purushothaman defeated Yichen to emerge victorious in the Open Singles final before Jamie Choong and Vihaan Nair rounded off the day with victory in the Open Doubles final, overcoming Alvin Dinesh and Nitai Wijetunge 21-10 21-10.
