Rory Easton and Zach Russ suffered a first-round loss as they made their debut at the YONEX Canada Open.

Taking on Vinson Chiu and Joshua Yuan of the USA in the men’s doubles, the pair went down 21-14 21-12 in Calgary.

In the first meeting between the two duos, Easton and Russ took an early lead in the first game, opening up a 6-2 advantage.
Chiu and Yuan then closed the gap before stretching two points clear as they won five points in a row.

Easton and Russ kept them close during the middle stages of the game before Chiu and Yuan pulled away to take the first game 21-14.

The American pairing were never behind in the second game, opening up a 4-0 lead before Easton and Russ battled valiantly to bring themselves within one of their opponents.

Chiu and Yuan then pulled away from there, winning seven points in a row to move the game and the match out of sight.

Russ and Easton are staying in North America as they head to Council Bluffs in Iowa for the YONEX US Open where they will take on Joshua Magee and Paul Reynolds of Ireland.
