Mutiara Mandala was the star of the day at the Wiltshire U13 Gold as she topped the podium on three separate occasions.

Mandala started things off by securing mixed doubles gold alongside Etienne Fan, defeating Jamie Choong and Michelle Chen 21-12 21-12 before besting Chen once again in the girl’s singles final.

She then teamed up with Chen to form a formidable force in the girl’s doubles, securing her third title against Ava Dodkins and Ananya Sanil.

Mixed doubles partner Fan also won multiple golds, adding a second doubles crown to his collection in the open doubles with Gerry Ou.

They beat Arjun Bhattiprolu and Aayush Reddy 21-15 21-14 in a superb final performance.

Elsewhere in singles action, Siddhant Pawar and Aayush Reddy emerged victorious in their respective open singles finals, while Ava Dodkins pipped Keerthana Reddy Chada to girl’s singles gold in straight games.

At the U17 Gold Yorkshire, Lawrence Chen bagged singles and doubles gold over the course of a fantastic weekend of badminton.

He first defeated Johan Joseph 21-11 21-14 to convincingly win the open singles, before teaming up with Aarav Sujith to edge Joel Joby and Adarsh Suresh out 21-11 19-21 21-18 in an enthralling open doubles final.

It was a moment of redemption for Sujith, who had lost out 18-21 21-10 20-22 to Joby in a tight-fought open singles final earlier in the day.
In the girl’s singles, Anna Stewart and Tin Wing Raye Wan emerged victorious in their respective finals.

Stewart came back from a game down to win 8-21 24-22 21-14 against Shreya Urs, while Wan impressed to get past Pranavi Singh in straight games.

At the Dorset Senior Gold, Samuel Weekes came out as the doubles king as he brought two golds home.

Weekes first joined forces with Sophie Watson to deliver a three-game victory over Daniel Mcmillan and Cara Collins, with a spectacular second game turning the tide for the pair to win 18-21 28-26 21-14.

Weekes then paired up with fore-namesake Samuel Ricketts to defeat first seeds Sam Lyle and sur-namesake Jacob Weekes 21-17 21-17 in the open doubles finals.

In the open singles, Ollie Baczala stormed to a straight games victory to win gold, beating his opponent Partha Mehta 21-16 21-15.

Alexandra Oprisan lived up to her status as the No.1 seed to top the podium in the women’s singles, convincingly defeating Jessica Allen 21-10 in the first game before Allen was forced to retire in the second.

However, Oprisan had to settle for silver in the women’s doubles alongside Lisa Curtin, with Thilini Hendahewa and Ishasriya Mekala emerging victors in a hard-fought three-game final.

Looking forward, September also saw the entries open for the Age Group National Championships, set to be played across November and December.

The U19 English National Championships will occur on the weekend of 16-17 November, while the U13 English National Championships will take place on 23-24 November.

The 29th English National Masters will then be played out between 29 November and 1 December.

The U15 English National Championships and U11 English National Championships follow the Masters on the second weekend of December. The U15s will be in action on 7 December and 8 December, while the U11s will see their event completed in one day on 8 December.
