Ross Reid – Development & Pathway Manager

Ross Reid

Area of work/focus

As Development and Pathway Manager I head up the Development Department and the three teams that sit within it. My key priorities are linked to Badminton England’s new 2023-33 strategy which is heavily focused on young people and the building of a badminton pathway, that connects grassroots to performance activity.

Background

I have a very wide view of the badminton landscape both inside the UK and abroad. As a retired full-time player with over 20 years of coaching experience, I have worked at all levels of the sport including, schools, local authorities, clubs and county badminton.  I have been the head of England’s top badminton academy for 19 years and national coach of England at U15/17/19 European and World Championships where England achieved its highest ever finish of number 7 in the World.

Badminton buzz!

What gives me my badminton buzz is bringing new beginners into our wonderful sport.  Taking them on exciting new journey’s and exposing them to the very best that badminton has to offer.  I feel optimistic and excited about England’s future and am proud to be working to developing a badminton pathway that places no barriers in front of players, allowing them to participate, enjoy, progress, achieve and go on to build a lifelong love of the game.
