A busy week of action at the Czech Open culminated with two English doubles pairings reaching the quarter-finals in Prague.

Mixed doubles action was highlighted by Steven Stallwood and Hope Warner, whose campaign came to an end on Saturday with a 21-11, 14-21, 21-16 to Liao Chao Pang and Liu Chiao-Yun

However they had picked up two impressive wins before that, securing straight games victories over Nicolas Hoareau and Ramona Uprus in the first round and then third seeds Pawel Smilowski and Wiktoria Adamek in the second round.

Also in mixed doubles action were Alex Green and Lizzie Tolman, who were beaten in a tight opening round contest by Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch after coming through qualifying.

Meanwhile, Brandon Zhi Hao Yap and Annie Lado were beaten in the second round by Yang Ming-Tse and Wang Yu Qiao after receiving an opening round bye.

Lado was also in women’s doubles action alongside Abbygael Harris, the duo reaching the last eight.

Harris and Lado defeated Ronak Olyaee and Nathalie Wang in the first round and in the second round they overcame Paulina Hankiewicz and Magdalena Swierczynska, both victories coming in straight games.

Their campaign came to a close with a 21-10 21-15 loss to Annie and Kerry Xu in Saturday’s quarter-final.

Tolman was also in women’s doubles action with Sian Kelly, losing a tight contest in the second round to Martina Corsini and Judith Mair following an opening victory against Serena Au Yeong and Katharina Hochmei.

Men’s doubles action saw Green and Zhi Hao Yap competing, the pair falling in the opening round to Kenji Lovang and Leo Rossi.

And in the women’s singles both Gauri Shidhaye and Michelle Ting picked up opening round wins before their campaigns ended in the second round.

After coming through two rounds of qualifying, Ting beat Rosy Oktavia Pancasari 21-13 21-18 in her first main draw match before falling to Vivien Sandorhazi.

Shidhaye defeated Ann-Kathrin Spoeri 21-18 21-16 to start her campaign, before losing out to Katerina Tomalova.
