Developing Backhand Technique
Overall aims & focus:
To improve the technical accuracy of practical hitting demonstrations
Target audience:
Level 1 coaches (or aspiring)
Level 2 coaches with limited badminton playing experience
Any level coach wanting to refresh their technical skills
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify the basic mechanics of the overhead and underarm backhand hitting actions
- Identify and apply the grips for the different hitting actions
- Demonstrate a correct overhead backhand hitting action
- Demonstrate a correct underarm backhand hitting action

- Basic biomechanical information regarding rotation, flexion, extension, force generation linked to the backhand action
- Identify and apply the grips for the different hitting actions
- Bevel grip and variations according to shuttle position
