About the Awards

Showcasing Talent

We are delighted to be hosting the 2017 National Badminton Awards.

The annual National Badminton Awards are a great opportunity to sing the praises of the brilliant volunteers, fans, coaches and players of our fantastic sport.

The 2017 awards will be hosted by Sky Sports News presenters, David Garrido and Hayley McQueen.

David Garrido Pic 1

David Garrido Pic 2

David is a sports broadcaster with more than 15 years' experience, having spent a decade at the BBC before joining Sky Sports.  He made his name mainly at Radio 1 Newsbeat, covering some of the biggest sporting events in the world, such as international football tournaments, Wimbledon Championships, Ashes series and Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Over this time, David also reported on TV for some of the BBC's flagship football programmes - Final Score, Football Focus and Match of the Day.  David is currently presenting Spanish football on Sky Sports, as well as on Sky Sports News HQ, and he has also made his first documentary with Sky, focusing on the Gibraltar national football team.

He played badminton to county level for Buckinghamshire when he was young and still plays now, albeit not very well!
