For the first time since the YONEX All England Championships in March this year, our players will soon be back competing on home soil. With so little tournament badminton being played around the world, Badminton England will be hosting the inaugural England Challenge Cup on Sunday 6 December at the National Badminton Centre in Milton Keynes. The event will be broadcast online and as well as being competitivepromises a lot of fun also

The tournament will feature 16 National squad players, two internationally acclaimed coaches and one England Challenge Cup title. Team Captains, Raj Ouseph BEM and Olympian Anthony Clark, will attempt to lead their team to victory at the Challenge Cup. As well as providing some competitive match play, the tournament is designed to say ‘thank you’ to the badminton community for all the support they’ve given during the pandemic.

In a day of non-stop action badminton fans won’t want to miss, the two teams will compete headtohead in all disciplines. In an unmissable day, the Denmark Open champions, Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge, will take to the court again, but who will they be playing?

What we can share is a highly anticipated mixed doubles showdown between Chris and Gabby Adcock and Lauren Smith and Marcus Ellis

The Denmark Open gave us all a tantalising taste of the action we’ve missed so much but we also know so many clubs and players have missed being able to return to court, but we haven’t forgotten you.

Your support for badminton continues to make a difference and the Challenge Cup is an opportunity for Badminton England, including the players, to say thank you. With tournaments at a standstill again, we want to give you an opportunity to continue to show your support, while we continue to work so hard to get badminton back across the country, as soon as it is safe to do so

You can support and be part of all the excitement of the Challenge Cup from the comfort of your own home because watching couldn’t be simpler as action from the whole day will be broadcast on BBC Online and on iPlayer
