Criteria: How to apply
The Premier School / College criteria is designed to recognise the important role that schools / colleges play, and as such it guides the school / college through a set of criteria that will ensure pupils have a positive experience within, and exposure to, the sport of badminton. There are two sets of criteria for Premier Schools / Colleges – Essential and Progressive Development. The Essential criteria must be met to achieve BADMINTON England Premier School / College status; the Progressive Development criteria must be worked towards and met by the end of the 4-year accreditation period.
Prior to re-accreditation, both Essential and Progressive criteria must be in place to demonstrate the school / college's continued commitment to develop and enhance their badminton programme.
Upon receipt of an application form BADMINTON England will send you a resource pack via email. The school / college needs to complete the Declaration and Evidence Checklist plus gather appropriate evidence and submit to BADMINTON England to gain status.
Application should be made in electronic format, and sent to a BADMINTON England Officer. BADMINTON England will provide support to schools / colleges in their application towards and beyond accreditation through the Badminton Development Network.
Maintaining Accreditation
Accreditation for Premier Schools / Colleges lasts for four years. After four years each school will be re-assessed on all areas of the award. Each year schools are also asked to complete an Annual Health Check to ensure that no major changes have taken place and there has been at least one visit by the local BADMNTON England officer within the accreditation period.

The visit is organised by the Regional Officer looking at what has changed within the school in the past year and an update of its development plan. Re-accredited schools are presented with new certificates to recognise the new period of accreditation.
