UKSport introduced a GB Programme for Badminton at the start of season 2006 / 2007 which incorporates players from the Home Countries. The main aim of the Programme is to support athletes with the potential to achieve medal success at the World Championships and the Olympic Games.
The Programme is funded by UKSport and supports GB players in a number of specific areas namely GB Training, International tournaments, medical insurance and Sports Science Support.
The Programme is divided into four groups, the World & Olympic Medallists, World Class Performance, International Performance and GB Talent Pool.
In order to gain entry on to the GB Programme, players must achieve the targets set within the selection criteria and it is stated that continued progression must be maintained to remain a part of the Programme.
