Will my existing award still be recognised?
The UKCC endorsed 1st4Sport qualifications are a totally new pathway which over time will hopefully become the “Gold Standard” for coaches throughout the country.
The standards required to attain a UKCC endorsed qualification will be somewhat higher than the equivalent existing level as the content of the courses is both greater and of a slightly advanced level, however this does not mean that you are less qualified than you were before. The BADMINTON England awards will continue to be recognised within the sport, however over a period of time it is anticipated that employers/deployers may require UKCC endorsed qualifications for certain positions.
Yes, you will be able to continue your membership of the coaching register as long as you have a coaching qualification, either BADMINTON England or 1st4Sport.
The UKCC Pathway (click on the link to download) gives an indication of how the current awards fit in with UKCC in terms of level, however it must be recognised that much of the content of the new qualifications is very different therefore it is difficult to make direct comparisons.
For more information on upgrading to a UKCC endorsed Coaching Qualification, please view the Accreditiation of Prior Experiental Learning (APEL) section.
