Competition Manager Resources

Launched in September 2005, the National Competition Framework for young people sets out the following vision:

  • A world-class system of competitive sport for young people
  • Transformation of the content, structure and presentation of competitive opportunities for young people of school age
  • A heightened profile for school sport and, specifically, competitive opportunities
Work is already underway to develop a single competitive framework for each sport that includes competitions in schools (to include the Center Parcs National Schools Badminton Championships) and clubs. The challenge is to deliver high quality pathways which will leave a lasting legacy up to and beyond the 2012 Olympics.

The role of the Competition Managers is to implement each sport's competition framework at local level.  Within their areas the Competition Managers are instructed to work with specific School Sports Partnerships as a priority.

Support from BADMINTON England

Across each of the areas in which the Competition Managers operate there are Regional Managers and Regional Officers. These officers provide the essential link to BADMINTON England Silver Clubs, the ideal exit route for young people from school-based competition.

Information BADMINTON England can share with Competition Managers

The Regional Managers and Regional Officers are able to provide Competition Managers with a list of the affiliated School Sport Partnerships and Schools in their area. These officers will also be able to link the Competition Managers to their local Community Sports Coaches.

Resources for Competition Managers

BADMINTON England has been working hard to develop resources which make organising school-based badminton competition easily accessible.

Key Stage 1 & 2
At Key Stage 1 and 2 we would like the Competition Managers to promote Bisi Festivals which are ideal for incorporating young leaders/SiS volunteers.  Bisi Badminton Festival activities and certificates are free to download.

Key Stage 3 & 4
The Center Parcs National Schools Championships is a competition aimed at Key Stage 3 & 4 and is divided into the following year groups: Yr 7, 8, 9 and Yr 10, 11. BADMINTON England has asked that the Competition Managers are involved in organising the SSP round of this competition.
