Following the great success of the inaugural National Badminton Awards 2013, we are delighted to announce that they are back for a second year running.
The annual National Badminton Awards, in partnership with Wedlake Bell LLP, are the perfect excuse to sing the praises of the brilliant volunteers and players of our fantastic sport. Not only will the winners receive a well deserved spotlight; they will also have the pleasure of attending the 2014 ceremony.
This year is particularly exciting as we launch our two new categories, Fan of the Year and Official of the Year.
The full seven categories are as follows:
- Club of the Year (sponsored by Perkins Slade)
- Coach of the Year (sponsored by Bluegreen Design Consultants)
- Official of the Year
- Volunteer of the Year (sponsored by Yonex)
- Player of the Year (sponsored by Yonex)
- Young Player of the Year (sponsored by Yonex)
- Fan of the Year
Anyone (a club, member, member of the public etc) can nominate someone for one or more categories. However, please note that self nominations will not be eligible. Nominations will only be accepted via our online nomination form and must be received no later than 5pm on 10 January 2014.
Nominators will need to give their reasons for suggesting an individual, reflecting their contribution between March 2013 and now; such as their work to date, or perhaps their passion for the game by attending lots of events. Whatever your reasons, we want to hear how you play, love and live badminton.
Please note that by submitting a nomination you are confirming the individual is happy for their details to be shared with BADMINTON England. Personal details (such as contact information) will not be published. However, the winning nominator’s name will be shared on our website, as well as the winner’s name, photo and reasons.
The winners will be invited to bring up to two guests to join them at the National Badminton Awards ceremony. Additionally, the person who submitted the winning nomination will also be invited to join the celebrations.
The ceremony will be held on Friday 7 March 2014 in Birmingham, alongside the quarter finals of the Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships. Guests will enjoy a sumptuous three course lunch, during which our winners will receive their award. The winner and their guests will then watch the quarter finals at the nearby National Indoor Arena.
Details of the winners, including their stories, will also be publicised on the BADMINTON England website and our social media channels.
We received a high number of nominations last year and it was great to read the fantastic contributions you all make to our sport. We would love to hear from you again.
