Thousands of school children, with their teachers, have been enjoying and learning from BADMINTON England’s Bisi resources, equipment and courses. BADMINTON England now wants to ensure that coaches have access to the same opportunities to take part in courses and learn more about Bisi badminton. The course aims to teach coaches, who are working with children aged up to 11 years of age, about the functional abilities of children in relation to the FUNdamentals and how to use Bisi activities in their club coaching sessions.

During the course, coaches will cover the following -

1. Long Term Athlete Development - Describes the ‘LTAD model’ and how it underpins the content of the Bisi Resources

2. Overview Bisi Primary resources – Guidance on how the activities can be used during club coaching sessions

3. Practical delivery of sample activities suited to children aged 5-11 – Coaches will get an opportunity to try out a range of Bisi activities supported by appropriate Primary Movement Cards, Lesson Plans, and equipment.

4. Describe talent identification opportunities and Bisi Badminton Awards

Cost and Pre-requisite

Attendees must hold a minimum of the UKCC Level 1 Award in Coaching Badminton (or equivalent) or have been certificated for the BADMINTON England Activity Leader Award. BADMINTON England Registered Coaches will be given discounted places on the course and if coaches already own the Bisi Badminton Primary Resource, this will be taken into account in the fees associated with the course. As an extra bonus, completion of the course will entitle coaches to receive Bisi equipment special offers and discounts.
 

*Coaches must bring their own Bisi Primary resource with them to the course and will be asked to provide the serial number on the course application form. Coaches may not share resources on the course.

Coaching in Schools

We are also aware that in the past few years there has also been an increase in the amount of coaches being employed by schools to take curricular and extra-curricular badminton sessions. To increase the employability of these coaches in school environments, we have created an opportunity with the Youth Sport Trust for coaches to gain free access (temporary offer) to the YST online learning course ‘Coaching in Schools’. This is a fantastic and essential resource for coaches to take advantage of if they want to learn more about working in a school environment.

Those coaches wishing to attend the YST ‘Coaching in School’ online course, must also attend the Bisi for Coaches course. Upon registering for the Bisi for Coaches course, coaches will be asked whether they wish to be provided with free access to the YST award (free access will only be provided on the condition that coaches agree to provide feedback to BADMINTON England about the online course).
