Congratulations on completing your Sports Leaders UK qualification and welcome to BADMINTON England.

BADMINTON England works to help clubs recruit, retain and recognise volunteers, by working with clubs to ensure that they are able to provide the support their volunteers need to make them feel valued and to make their volunteering a rewarding experience.

What Kind of Volunteers do Clubs Need?

Clubs need both ‘one-off’ volunteers (i.e. to support a specific event) and ‘ongoing’ volunteers (to help with the running of the club).  In terms of the tasks involved, the list is endless, but includes:

One-off Opportunities:
Fund-raising
Event Support
Publicity
Administration
On-the-day organisation
Marshalling/officiating
Making refreshments
Co-ordinating results
Decorating the club house

Ongoing Opportunities:
Coaching/helping a coach
Officiating
Team Manager
Committee Member, e.g. Treasurer, Secretary,
Writing press releases, newsletters etc.
Managing the club’s website

What Kind of Volunteers do Events Need?

Events need both ‘one-off’ volunteers (i.e. to support large major events) and ‘ongoing’ volunteers (to help with ongoing events):

Tournament Organising
Match Control
Line Judging
Scoring
Umpiring
Coordinating results
Competitors Steward
Court Manager
