Lauren Smith and Alex Langley were narrowly beaten in the semi-finals at the Spanish International in Madrid tonight. European junior champions Matthew Nottingham and Chris Coles went out in the quarter-finals of the men's doubles.

Team England's experienced 13-strong squad arrived in Qingdao to be paired with Denmark and Korea in the draw for the 2011 Double Star BWF Sudirman Cup, which gets under way tomorrow [Sunday].

The Division One Play-offs, which determine the two counties who will be promoted to Premier B for next season, took place at the National Badminton Centre, Milton Keynes over the weekend of 7th and 8th May.
