Ouseph looks to repeat 'American dream' at US Open
Reigning champion Rajiv Ouseph will spearhead England’s charge at the Yonex OCBC US Open Badminton Championships when the action gets under way in Los Angeles in a week's time.
Ouseph, who heads out to the USA seeking to retain the US Open crown he won so impressively last July, is one of 12 English based players entered into the tournament with important world ranking points to play for.
After a fruitful spell in Asia, Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork will look to resume their climb back up the world rankings in the Mixed Doubles event having re-entered the world’s Top 10 for the first time in 3 months.
They will be joined in the Mixed Doubles draw by Heather Olver and Marcus Ellis, both of whom will double up in the doubles events - Olver playing with Mariana Agathangelou in the women's event whilst Ellis will partner Peter Mills in the Mens Doubles discipline.
The Mens Doubles event will also see Chris Langridge and Anthony Clark continue their flourishing partnership. After giving 2011 All England Open champions, Boe and Mogensen, a real scare at the Indonesian Open just 9 days ago, the English pair shot up 12 places to 49th in the world rankings and the US Open gives a perfect opportunity to keep up that momentum.
To complete the entrants, Carl Baxter joins Ouseph in the mens singles draw whilst 2011 English National champion, Nicola Cerfontyne, will travel to feature in the Women’s Singles tournament alongside Liz Cann.
