Ouseph triumphs again in Scotland
England's Rajiv Ouseph earned himself a world ranking boost by winning the Scottish International men's singles title for the second time.
Ouseph was the birthday party pooper as he defeated team-mate Carl Baxter on the eve of his 26h birthday.
The world No. 33 won 21-18 21-10 to extend his international tournament record against Baxter to 3-0.
But Ouseph and Baxter will still be celebrating the Kent star's birthday in style. "We are going to watch Chelsea against Liverpol in the Carling Cup on Tuesday," said Ouseph. Baxter is a big Liverpool fan.
Ouseph came back from the Hong Kong Superseries event to compete in Glasgow and repeated his 2008 triumph.
His win three years ago started his surge up the world rankings to a career best No.11 and he said: "Hopefully this will give me a platform to build on.
"I am looking forward to playing in Asia in the January Superseries events in the countdown to the Yonex All England Championships in March."
But Baxter and Ouseph are destined to meet again in the English National Championships at Bolton Arena in early February. Ouseph has won their last three finals on the way to four titles.
England were chasing a second title this afternoon when Peter Mills and Marcus Evans defended their men's doubles title.
But the sixth seeds lost a close final to top seeds Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov 21-19 21-19 as the Russians repeated their Yonex BWF World Championships win over the England pair.
