Robert Blair and Gabby White suffered a second successive defeat at the Li Ning BWF World Superseries finals in Liuzhou, China, today to all but end their hopes of reaching the semi-finals.

But the Anglo-Scottish pair came back from a 21-10 setback in the first game to push world champions and top seeds Zhang Nang and Zhao Yunlei all the way before losing the second game 21-18.

Blair and White had a glimmer of hope of levelling the contest when they edged ahead at 15-14 in the second game but the Chinese pair responded straight away although they needed three match points to clinch victory.

Blair and White's last match in Group A is tomorrow against Yonex All England champions Xu Chen and Ma Jin, who face Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir of Indonesia in today's evening session.

Denmark's Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen picked up their second win in Group B with a 21-15 21-13 victory over Japan's Shintaro Ikeda and Reiko Shiota to all but book their semi-final place.
