Ellis and White runners-up in Holland
Marcus Ellis and Gabby White, playing in their third final this season, had to settle for second best in the mixed doubles at the Yonex Dutch Open in Almere today.
The sixth seeds faced fifth seeds Mads Pieler Kolding and 2009 world champion Kamilla Rytter Juhl after an impressive run to the final.
But the Danes proved too strong, winning 21-15 21-13 with the England pair never able to get ahead in either game.
Nevertheless Ellis and White have made an impressive start to the season, winning the Yonex Belgian International title in mid-September and reaching the Thwack Czech Open final at the start of October.
This week the action switches to Odense and the Yonex Denmark Open, one of the five Premier events on the OSIM BWF Superseries 2012. And Ellis and White, the top qualifying seeds, have been promoted to the main draw where they join world silver medallists Chris Adcock and Scotland's Imogen Bankier.
Ellis also received a men's doubles boost. He and Scotland's Paul van Rietvelde were drawn to meet Songphon Anugritayawon and Sudket Prapakamol in the first qualifying round but the Thai top qualifying seeds have been promoted to the main draw.
That means Ellis and Van Rietvelde will meet Baptiste Careme and Gaetan Mitterheisser of France or Denmark's Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Jonas Rasmussen on Tuesday evening to decide who goes into the main draw.
Chris Langridge and Peter Mills are second qualifying seeds as they are also bidding to join Adcock and Andy Ellis in the first round.
Lauren Smith and Gabby White are England's representatives in the women's doubles while Rajiv Ouseph is the sole singles hope.
