Ellis and White through to mixed doubles final at the Dutch

England's Marcus Ellis and Gabby White pulled off a fine win to reach the mixed doubles final at the Yonex Dutch Open in Almere as they chase another title to go with their Belgian triumph in September.

In the first match of semi-final day the sixth seeds beat 2007 world and 2008 Olympic men's doubles champion Markis Kido and his sister Pia Zebadiah.

The England pair, who also reached last month's Czech International final before Ellis had to retire injured, defeated the seventh seeds from Indonesia 21-12 21-19 to earn a crack at fifth seeds Mads Pieler Kolding and Kamilla Rytter Juhl in tomorrow's final.

The Danes knocked out top seeds Anthony Dumartheray and Sabrina Jacquet of Switzlerand 21-10 21-16 to book their place in the final.

In tonight's session Heather Olver and Kate Robertshaw were aiming to follow up their Czech win by reaching the women's doubles final. They faced Dutch third seeds Selena Piek and Iris Tabeling but went down 21-19 21-19 in two close games where they were left to play catch-up in both games.

Meanwhile, at the Irish Futures in Dublin Jamie Bonsels challenge came to an end in the semi-finals. The sixth seed beat fourth seed Lucas Claerbout of France 15-21 21-14 21-17 before falling to Swedish top seed Matthias Wigardt 21-15 21-17 in the semi-finals.

In the women's singles fourth seed Fontaine Chapman beat Hungary's Monika Szoke 21-15 21-13 in the quarter-finals but fell to top seed Perrine Le Buhanic of France 21-15 25-23 21-13 despite saving a match point at 21-20 in the second game.

Ben Caldwell's bold doubles bid with Ireland's Sam Magee ended in the
quarter-finals when they went down 14-21 22-20 21-18 to Welsh second seeds Daniel Font and  Oliver Gwilt after letting a match point slip at 20-19 in the second game.
