Penty leads young England badminton hopefuls into action in Bulgaria
Toby Penty leads England's young stars into action at this week's Babolat Bulgarian International in Sofia.
But the 6ft 2in left-hander faces a tall order as he has been drawn against top seed Niluka Karunaratne of Sri Lanka on Friday.
Michael Spencer-Smith is the other England player in the main draw and he awaits a qualifier.
Fontaine Chapman tackles the women's singles and meets Dimitria Popstoikova of Bulgaria in the first round.
Chris Coles and Matthew Nottingham are third men's doubles seeds and start their bid against Daniel Grassmueck and Matthew Nottingham of Austria.
Jessica Fletcher and Alyssa Lim tackle the women's doubles but face a tricky test against Bulgaria's Petya Nedelcheva and Popstoikova.
Coles and Fletcher are third seeds in the mixed doubles and start with a bye before facing either Bulgaria's Marin Marinov and Kristina Popova or Serbia's Ilia Pavlovich and Milica Simic.
However, Heather Olver, who won the 2011 women's doubles title in Sofia, will not be defending her crown as a busy month for England players continued with the Yonex Dutch Open in Almere following the Bulgarian tournament.
Later in the month the focus switches back to the OSIM BWF World Superseries 2012 with the Yonex Denmark Open in Odense and the Yonex French Open in Paris before the Bitburger Open begins on September 30 in Saarbrucken.
