Yonex BWF World Junior Championships - Team Selection
BADMINTON England have selected an 8- player squad to compete at the 2012 Yonex BWF World Junior Championships in Japan next month.
Alex Lane, Sam Parsons, Rhys Walker, Tom Wolfenden, Jenny Moore, Viki Williams, Chloe Birch and Holly Smith have been hand picked up by the selection panel to represent Center Parcs - supported Team England in the team competition and also compete in the individual events.
Hosted since 1992, the World Junior Championships showcases the best U19 badminton across the planet and has a glittering alumni of previous winners including Saina Nehwal, Chen Long, Wang Yihan and Viktor Axelsen whilst Ratchanok Inthanon - the surprise package at the London 2012 Olympic Games - is the current title holder in Womens Singles.
Performance Objectives:
2012 World Junior Championships – Team Event
To select a team of players who are considered to have sufficient ability to realistically finish within the top 12 of the team event
2012 World Junior Championships – Individual Events
To select players who are considered to have sufficient ability to reach the last 16 in their entered event(s) with the potential of achieving a quarter-final
