Robert Blair and Gabby White’s challenge at the Li-Ning BWF World Superseries finals came to an end in Liu, Zhou, China today when they lost their third and final group match.

The Anglo-Scottish pair lost to Yonex All England champions Xu Chen and Ma Jin 21-12-21-8 in just 30 minutes.

Blair and White finished bottom of a tough Group A after three defeats while Xu and Ma finished second behind world champions Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei to move into tomorrow’s knockout semi-finals.

Denmark’s Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen were left to fly the mixed doubles flag for Europe by finishing top of Group B.

Fellow Danes Peter Gade and Tine Baun are the only Europeans through to the singles semi-finals.
