World Badminton Coaching Conference – Tickets Going Fast!
When it comes to London's premier sporting venues, they don't get much more spectacular than Wembley Stadium! On the 11th and 12th August 2011, during the Yonex BWF World Badminton Championships, BADMINTON England will be taking over the stadium to host the World Badminton Coaching Conference.
Bookings for the conference are coming in thick and fast and up until the end of April everyone can get an additional 10% off ticket prices. This means that Registered Coaches can attend for as little as £101.25 and all other delegates can attend for just £135.00. As an added bonus each delegate will receive a complementary ticket to the Yonex BWF World Badminton Championships on the Thursday evening, plus a 20% discount on ticket prices for the Friday evening.
Headlining the event will be Frank Dick OBE, regarded as one of the UK's top motivational speakers and someone who has a proven track record of coaching success. Not only has Frank coached Wimbledon Champion Boris Becker, but between 1978 – 1994 Frank coached at least one medal winner in every Olympic, World and European Athletics Championships including Olympic Gold Medallist Daley Thompson. Frank will provide a unique insight (including plenty of amusing anecdotes) into how a winning environment can be created and fostered.
Also headlining will be a presentation on Nathan Robertson’s coaching pathway. Have you ever wondered what made Nathan get into badminton? What factors contributed to his Olympic success? What challenges he and his coaches have faced along the road to success? During the conference we’ll be interviewing all the people that contributed to Nathan’s badminton career; from the person that got him to first pick up a racket and recognised his talent, to the team of people that contributed to his Olympic success in 2004 and hopefully onto his next medal in 2012! - A unique and not-to-be-missed presentation.
Delegates will also get the opportunity to attend a selection of breakout sessions, including presentations by Jens Grill (Head of England Performance), Martin Andrew (Junior Performance Head Coach), Andy Wood (ex GB Badminton Coach), Tanya Woodward (Horsham Arun Performance Centre), Dr Michael Hughes (Physiologist at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff) and there are still more to come. For information about presentation topics please see the BADMINTON England website.
Adrian Christy, BADMINTON England CEO, has offered his full support for the conference stating that:
"Quality coaching delivered by well educated and informed coaches is the heartbeat of a players development whether at grass roots or world class level.
I am delighted that this conference will bring together so many coaches who will share a wealth of knowledge and experience that each can take away for the betterment of their own players.
I hope every coach will enjoy and learn from this fabulous opportunity".
