England romp to 5-0 opening win in Delhi

England scored a 5-0 win over Falkland Islands in their opening Group C match at the Commonwealth Games team event in Delhi.

Tonight Andy Wood's squad face Uganda and they will be looking to repeat the scoreline - and the emphatic win with seven points the most conceded in any game against the Falklands.

Carl Baxter and Elizabeth Cann played the singles, Anthony Clark and Chris Adcock the men's doubles, Mariana Agathangelou and Heather Olver the women's doubles and Adcock and Gabby White the  mixed.

Wood said: It was a very comfortable victory against Falkland Islands with all our playes having the opportunity to experience the arena under match conditions.

"The air conditioning drift is quite significant and the lighting extremely bright. All our players handled it well and now we are going back to the Village to rest before returning to the Siri Fort complex for our evening match against Uganda."

Tonight's match will be Clark's 100th international and, appropriately, he will partner his friend Nathan Robertson in men's doubles. Rajiv Ouseph and  Cann will play the singles, Robertson and Jenny Wallwork the mixed and Wallwork and White the women's doubles.
