Ouseph wins another Elite as Agathangelou strikes at the double
English National champion Rajiv Ouseph retained his men's singles title at the Yorkshire Elite Open at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on Sunday.
In the final he beat National runner-up Carl Baxter 21-11 22-20.
But pride of place went to Mariana Agathangelou with the Jersey-born Avon player taking the women's doubles with Heather Olver and lifting the mixed doubles with Robin Middleton as they beat Olver and Marcus Ellis.
In the women's doubles Agathangelou and Olver beat Scotland's Emma Mason and Surrey's Samantha Ward in three games.
Middleton's mixed win made up for losing the men's doubles final when he and Lim Kenn went down in straight games to top seeds Andrew Ellis and Dean George, who dominated this event. Second seed Middleton had been due to play with Chris Langridge, who withdrew.
The women's singles title went to Scotland's Linda Sloan, who came back from a game down in both her semi-final and final to beat second seed Panuga Riou and, in the final, Helen Davies.
