England stars look ahead to Hyderabad

BADMINTON England today selected their players to represent England in the World Individual Championships in the Indian city of Hyderabad from August 10-16.

Nine of the players are on Team England duty this week at the Li Ning Sudirman Cup in Guangzhou, China.

The line-up includes 2006 world mixed doubles champion Nathan Robertson (who won gold with Gail Emms) and Madrid runners-up Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg. Madrid also provided a men's doubles silver medal for Clark and Robert Blair, who now partners Chris Adcock while Clark is back in partnership with Robertson in a pairing which won silver at the 2004 European Championships in Geneva.

Richard Eidestedt and Andrew Ellis, the only squad members yet to win a senior cap, are among the men's doubles pairs.

The nominations are dependant on Badminton World Federation invitations.

Ian Moss, new Performance Director for GB Badminton and BADMINTON England, said: "We feel the players or pairs selected have the potential to achieve a mimimum of one quarter-final and contribute to the overall performance expectation of at least one medal and three quarter-final placings."
