ENGLAND'S double National men's singles champion Rajiv Ouseph failed in his bid to add the Head Sussex National Elite Open title to his Yorkshire success today.

Instead Malaysia's Lim Kenn lifted the title at Olympos, Haywards Heath, to add to his success at the Wimbledon Open. And he did so without dropping a game, beating Ouseph 21-12 21-18 in the final.

Lim reached the final with wins over Arthur Cheung, Ouseph's coach Aamir Ghaffar, Robert Kettle and Daryl Jacobs. Ouseph came through following a walkover in the first round, a two-game win over Tim Cope, then a 21-12 23-25 21-13 win over Neil White and an equally close encounter with Ben Beckman 19-21 22-20 21-10 before becoming Kenn's third Middlesex victim after Ghaffar and Jacobs.

Malaysia also took the women's singles title without dropping a game when Anita Kaur defeat Scotland's Linda Sloan 24-22 21-6 in the final. On the way she had put out England's Fontaine Chapman of Warwickshire and Essex player Atu Rosalina Sagita.

Sloan reached the final thanks to a walkover when Elizabeth Cann was forced to withdraw followed by a 21-10 10-21 21-18 win over Sarah Walker of Essex.

Kaur proved to have a jink on Sloan as she and Joanne Swee Ling Quay gave Malaysia a third title when they took the women's doubles with victory over Sloan and Emma Mason 21-19 21-18. Sloan and Mason had reached the final with the narrowest of wins over Chapman and Sarah Renton (Northumberland) 25-27 21-11 22-20.

But home players lifted the men's doubles and mixed doubles titles. In the men's doubles Robin Middleton (Yorks) and Peter Mills (Notts) defeated Surrey's Beckman and Essex player Simon Hardcastle 21-13 21-9.

But Mills' hopes of a double were dashed in the mixed final when he and Walker fell to Essex pair Joel Gayle and Caroline Westley 21-15 21-13.
